Where classic meets cool and the unbothered

A Few of My Favorite Things

Since we just met, a few things you should probably know:

I’m a Midwest girl with a New York edge, so contradictions come with the territory. I have strong opinions, but I can usually laugh at myself about them.

I’d rather buy one thing I’ll wear for ten years than forty things that fall apart in the wash. Unless Zara gets it right.

La Ligne is probably my favorite brand. Stripes have been my thing since middle school, so this feels less like a choice and more like destiny. I own more striped sweaters than I care to admit and wear them thrown over my shoulders far more often than necessary.

After years of working with jewelry designers, I’ve become very attached to handmade pieces. I’m not a diamond girl. I’d choose a Brent Neale Morse code bangle over a Cartier Love bracelet any day, and a Karyn Lyons painting over almost anything in a box.

No Birkin dreams here either. Give me a monogrammed L.L.Bean tote. One of my best friends had one made for me that says “picky,” and unfortunately, it is both accurate and my most-used bag.

I can lose hours to home design content: paint chips, floor plans, Pinterest boards and strangers’ house tours. I usually know immediately whether I love something. This saves time and occasionally leads to questionable impulse purchases.

I’m 5'10" and spent years feeling self-conscious about wearing heels. Then I turned 40, stopped caring and now wear them all the time.  Gotta love the confidant 40s.

Nothing fixes my mood faster than dancing to ’70s and ’80s love songs, yacht rock and French electronic music.  Only the lucky few have access to my spotify "on repeat".

I’m also a committed prankster. I take the open table "anything we should know" as the perfect opportunity, “Please refer to the big guy as Jimmy, bring up taekwondo a lot and don't mention tap water.”

I make a mean corn syrup free pecan pie, drive too fast, say the F word too much, love my people hard, take loyalty seriously and have been told by strangers on the street that they have never seen such incredible parallel parking skills.

Most importantly, I can laugh at myself. There is usually plenty of material.

Which one sounds most like you?
